Not just for blogging

Wordpress is a powerful tool that can be used to build virtually any kind of website. It’s not just for blogs as erroneously people tend to think, it’s very flexible and can be used to build any set of features. Wordpress is one of the most supported Content Management Systems, and has one of the most complete documentations.
Although it’s intended to be used to build blogs, it has a large set of features that makes it a poweful content management system for any kind of website. It can be easily extended, and provides support for themes, plugins and widgets, also its code is completely documented and can be modified easily to perform almost any task.
One of the main strengths of wordpress, and one of the main reasons of his wide adoption in thousands of blogs and websites on the net, is the large set of resources that can be found for it. From cool themes to must have plugins, it’s almost endless the number of resources available for wordpress.
Since I started to build websites using wordpress, I have created almost any kind of websites with wordpress, and every day I get surprised with what can be achieved with wordpress. I can find plugins to do whatever I need done, and if can’t find the right plugin, I can develop a custom plugin or extend one of the existent plugins. The same happens with wordpress itself, even when it has a large set of features, some times it’s not enough and I need to extend some of them or add new features, and you’d be amazed to see how easily it can be done if you know what you’re doing.
The same happens with the front end, you can find a free or premium theme for almost any kind of websites, some cool and some not that cool but they’re there. It’s also common that customers like uniqueness (who can blaim you?), and I design a custom and personalized theme just for them, making every single piece of the interface the way they want, so they can say “that’s my website” and not just “that’s a website I built with wordpress”.
You can get a complete and professional blog or website built within minutes using wordpress, from its admin area you can configure almost everything, and every new version brings more options. But yes, it’s pretty sure that you’ll build an ordinary website (or at least very common) if you don’t have the right skills to personalize it, but you can always learn or also if you’re not the kind of person that enjoys learning tech things, you can always get someone to do the work for you (Hello? I’m here).
So, the next time you’re going to build a website, you might want to give a try to Wordpress, I’m sure you won’t be desapointed. If you are not sure or have any doubts just ask, I won’t charge you for asking.
